Legacy Letter

Legacy work at end-of-life helps individuals and families preserve what matters most. Legacy work isn’t about producing something perfect or polished. It is about capturing life lessons, expressing love and gratitude, and honoring the things that matter most in life to each patient.

Legacy work is an opportunity for patients to share their personal stories, experiences or life lessons with others.  Legacy work may include, but is not limited to, sharing life stories, values, and beliefs, expressing gratitude and possibly, reflections on regrets, and offering blessings and guidance to loved ones.  Legacy work may be writing a note or letter, jotting down words of wisdom, creating something artistically, audio or video recordings, capturing a family recipe or simply sharing some life reflections.

Legacy work in hospice is about helping patients reflect on their lives and create something meaningful to leave behind — for themselves, for loved ones, or sometimes just for the moment. For patients, legacy work can offer a sense of dignity, purpose, and voice.  For families, it often becomes a cherished keepsake — something tangible that holds stories, values, or love.

Hear from families who have experienced our compassionate care. Grace Hospice is honored to support each patient with dignity and respect.

“The moment Mom chose was a moment when her kids weren’t there—I am not sure if that was on purpose or not. It is good to know that you were there, praying with her, singing to her, and caring for her in that moment. It’s a gift we will never forget.

My uncle was sustained in so many ways. The simply stated intent by Grace Hospice to provide that support by ‘encircling with comfort, pain management, honesty, and respect for decisions, while fostering peace and grace,’ is so remarkably accurate, and we can surely attest to the emotional and spiritual support we have all received.
