Grief Support

Grief support

At Grace Hospice, care for the family and friends of our patients does not end at death. We know the grief journey can be challenging, so Grace Hospice stays with you through the services of our Grief Support Program for 13 months after the death of your loved one. While we have a standard bereavement program, our goal is to personalize our services for each person who elects to have grief support follow up through Grace Hospice.

  • Individual Grief Counseling: Available via telephone, video call, or in person at the Grace Hospice Office
  • Mailings: Supportive mailings with information and resources throughout the 13 months after death
  • Children’s Grief: Resources to support grieving children both before and after a death
  • Grief Self-Assessment at 5 Months
  • Telephone calls: Supportive follow up calls from Grief Support Team
  • Anniversary Card: A card is mailed around the 1st anniversary of your loved one’s death
  • Grace Remembers: An invitation to attend Grace Hospice’s annual Grace Remembers memorial service

Written by two Grace Hospice team members who wanted to create a resource for children and families to feel more prepared for a loved one’s death.

“Someone I Love is Dying” is about a little girl named Kira, who learns that her grandpa’s health is declining and that he will soon die. Meant to be read aloud by caregivers, this 20-page picture book has both a fictional story told through the lens of Kira, and a nonfiction component which gives more context and detail about the dying process. Developmentally-appropriate and intentional language and storytelling help families begin to talk about and emotionally process the decline and eventual death of a loved one. Written for school-aged children and their families. A Christian version is also available.

Hear from families who have experienced our compassionate care. Grace Hospice is honored to support each patient with dignity and respect.

Every single person we interacted with was fantastic. The kindest and most caring people you’ll ever know. Excellent communication as well.
